New Project activities
Walenberg Rail Assessment recently worked in two important projects:
Final accreditation reached
Walenberg Rail Assessment received the final accreditation as Inspection Body for ISO/IEC 17020:2012 on 21 April 2022 after the Dutch Accreditation Body RvA conducted a succesful witness audit end 2022 and start of 2022.
Immediately after, the update of the AsBo recognition was requested from the Dutch Railway Safety Authority ILT and has now been registered in ERADIS. The extension of the validity of the AsBo recognition is now valid until May 2026.
Meanwhile, the accreditation scope of WRA has been extended with Safe System Integration. With this, WRA is now accredited for the whole railway scope:

Walenberg Rail Assessment recently worked in two important projects:
- Walenberg Rail Assessment establishes the EMC Compatibility Case for German ICE trains running in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands on 15 kV, 25 kV and 1500 V power supply networks.
- The ICE EMC project was recently extended with the EMC Compatibility Case for operation between Germany and Danmark.
- Walenberg Rail Assessment conducted a study into the risks of converting diesel maintenance vehicles into battery powered machines. A preliminary specification was developed.
Final accreditation reached
Walenberg Rail Assessment received the final accreditation as Inspection Body for ISO/IEC 17020:2012 on 21 April 2022 after the Dutch Accreditation Body RvA conducted a succesful witness audit end 2022 and start of 2022.

Walenberg Rail Assessment welcomed SVO Rail / Spoor 1 BV in january 2022 as second shareholder with the aim to establish a better basis for continuity and enable the development in the joint competencies of requirements management and compliance management. More concretely this will expand the portfolio of Walenberg Rail Assessment beyond requirements management, assessment, verification and validation activities into the areas of testing and collecting of compliance evidence. With this Walenberg Rail Assessment can cover all project phases from start to finish with "theoretical" and practical compliance demonstration and assessment.

Walenberg Rail Assessment received AsBo recognition
On August 5, 2021 Walenberg Rail Assessment received the final recognition as Assessment Body (AsBo). The associated scope is all subsystems of the interoperability Directive:

Walenberg Rail Assessment is happy to reach this milestone and start its service as AsBo for all your safety assessment projects under the CSM-RA 402/2013 and amendment 2016/1136.

Temporary Accreditation as Inspection Body granted
After a long process and thorough of development of the Quality Management System and auditing by the Dutch RvA, a positive advice for accreditation as Inspection Body under the standard ISO 17020:2012 was received on 20 April 2021. On 16 June 2021 the final decision for a temporary accreditation as Inspection Body was taken by the RvA.
The final step to become Assessment Body for the Commmon Safety Method 402/2013 (and amendment 2016/1136 at the Dutch NSA was launched.
In the next year, the temporary accreditation will enable WRA to start offering and executing services as inspection bodies and very soon as Railway Assessment Body (AsBo).

The comments made by the Dutch Accreditation during the december 2020 audit were all included in an update of the Quality Management System and this has been presented again in March 2021. A feedback from the Dutch Accreditation was received, confirming that all issues but one were solved. The final update for the last remaining issue has been started and will be presented soon.
